Green Roofs: Energy Efficiency Program and Smart Solar Roofs for Public Buildings in the Dominican Republic

Final reception: 05/19/2023, 10:33 am

Registration date: 04/14/2023

Project description

The initiative contemplates the installation of solar panels on the roofs of public institutions, turning them into micro electricity generators connected to a storage network. The energy generated by the panels would be distributed to cover the needs demanded by the institutions where the project is developed.

LOCATION

The Green Roof project aims to install solar panels on the roofs of public buildings managed by an intelligent energy efficiency system that will generate renewable energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. This project will focus on government buildings and schools in the Dominican Republic in order to maximize the impact in terms of reducing carbon emissions and reducing energy costs for the government.

The proposal develops a program of smart buildings for the public sector that contributes to saving money, efficiency in spending and the reduction of CO2 emissions in large cities such as Santo Domingo and Santiago. At the same time, this type of program contributes to achieving the environmental goals to which the country has committed itself at an international level.
